About Akbuk, Turkey

"Akbuk" means “White Bay” in Turkish

 Location of Akbuk

The Magnificent White Bay of Akbuk is one of the rising stars of Turkey.

Set among protected pine forests and olive trees, this spectacular white bay with its small marina, its many smaller bays and coves, beautiful unspoilt clean beaches is, as yet, untouched by mass tourism.  This is due to the fact that people are tending to "buy to live" in this area as opposed to just holidaying.

Akbuk has an already excellent infrastructure of roads, a small harbour, ancient Greek church which has now been restored to museum status, excellent restaurants and bars on the promenade and a mini marina.

The sea at Akbuk is a constantly changing colour from the most spectacular aqua for which Turkey is renowned to a beautiful deep blue.

On entering Akbuk there is a selection of 4 and 5 star hotels but as one progresses along the Bay it becomes more residential until hitting the small village then on to The French Holiday Resort.  The French, who are very discerning in choosing holiday locations, have had a holiday village in Akbuk for many years.  Akbuk has been one of the best kept secrets for many a year.

Akbuk was, until a couple of years ago a fishing village and a holiday resort for Turkish families from the cities.  Many of the older holiday homes are now being sold and modernized, changing the face of Akbuk.  However, this beautiful small township is fast gaining status amongst retirees and families looking for somewhere quieter to live.  Building in the area is limited to 3 floors so there are no highrise properties in this area and the expectation is that Akbuk will maintain its charm and beauty.

There are now supermarkets in Akbuk and a weekly market just a few minutes from The Pines.  For those not wishing to stroll down to the village and beach Dolmus buses run into the village from the road a few minutes walk away.

The Akbuk area is also renowned for its extremely high oxygen levels and low humidity, making it an ideal location for people who suffer from asthmatic problems.

A new road is to be built from Bodrum airport directly into Akbuk and this should bring travelling time down to about 30 minutes.  There are plans for 5 star resorts to be developed in and around Akbuk and a golf course is planned for the area with another being created 20 minutes away in Altinkum.

So much is going on in Akbuk we believe it will be one of the best locations in Turkey to purchase a residence or a holiday home for the discerning.  The area is being developed slowly with care and consideration for the locality.

Akbuk is a location where one can have a boat and a beautiful apartment for the price of a small apartment in other areas in the world so for anyone interested in sailing but can't quite afford the lifestyle in other countries, Akbuk is the place to be!

Akbuk is positioned between the two airports of Bodrum and İzmir with flights available from all major holiday companies.
